Phase III
|
The current phase of my collection started in 2020. My interest in 1/6 was fading due to rising costs and the staleness of offerings. After Christmas of 2019 I was putting things away in the attic, my boxed Terror Drome caught my eye for the first time in a while. It had been a fixture of the attic for over a decade. The last ARAH item left from the massive collection I once had. And it kept bugging me. Later that day I looked at eBay for some small Joes for the first time in a long time. Saw a complete 1982 Flash for 25 bucks. Flash was my first ARAH figure. Got him from Montgomery Wards in summer of '82. He just popped on the shelf. So I added him to cart.... I ended up buying 4 figures over 2 days. 82 Flash, 83 Major Bludd, 86 BATs and 82 Short-Fuze. The first to arrive was Major Bludd. It was so odd. I didn't think it was correct at first. He looked small compared to the 1/6 figures that I worked with the last 17 years. But then the others came and it just ... clicked. I purchased several figures over the next few months from eBay and a few of the Facebook groups I didn't know existed. It was exciting. Getting Joes, reading about all the discoveries since I've been gone, the interaction with people that worked on the toy line, diving into that side of Instagram and all the pictures people take and also being remembered and rediscovering lost friendships. After returning to GI Joe ARAH and began selling off my 1/6 scale figures. Currently I am probably about half the volume I had in Phase I. It is focused on the original ARAH years with some figures after sprinkled in there including the recent Hasbro Retro line and Super7 Reaction+ Below are some pictures. I'll add more when sometime. Eventually. If you care, you can see lots of pictures of mine on Instagram. |
